Therapy comes in many forms — and breeds. Dogs have long been known for the physical and emotional health benefits they bestow upon their owners, and now, that benefit branches out to strangers through the use of therapy dogs. Welcome to the era of “Dr. Dog.”

Basically, a therapy dog is any breed or mixed-breed of even-tempered canine who provides affection, attention, and comfort to adults and children in hospitals, retirement homes, assisted-living facilities, adult daycare homes, schools, rehab facilities, and other places. They offer unconditional love to any and all, which is sometimes all that’s needed.
