Fur Flies at Disc Dog Championships
More than 200 teams compete at disc dog championships in Georgia.

It was raining dogs and discs at the exciting 2010 United States Disc Dog Nationals, which held the U.S. National Finals and World Finals Oct. 16-17 in Cartersville, Ga.

Record crowds totaling more than 9,000 watched what has become a true international competition, with 224 teams competing in the ninth annual event, traveling from across the United States, as well as Canada, the Czech Republic, Germany, Japan, Poland and Spain.
Taking the World Championship was Chuck Middleton and Bling Bling from Texas. “Chuck Middleton was the very first USDDN World Champion in 2001 and nine years later – what a repeat performance with an extraordinary dog,’’ said Melissa Heeter, USDDN International Judging Director.
Shaun Hirai and Shack from Japan win the U.S. National Final Championship
Underscoring the international interest in the event, Shaun Hirai and Shack from Japan won the U.S. National Final Championship, their third consecutive victory in that event.
