I am lucky enough to live with a beautiful Doberman
bitch.
She is enormously communicative of how she feels in herself, and what she feels about what is going on around her by the use of her ears and tail. Not being able to talk, these are the only ways she has to communicate with
me.
I challenge ANYone who advocates tail and/or ear docking to have the equivalent done to
themselves!!
Go find a Surgeon and ask him to remove YOUR means of communication - your tongue and your fingers!!

I agree with Rijan...... Obviously the "retards" of Miami FL only own German shepherds...... This is neither abusive or barbaric. The English (living in retard America) are as I've experienced are more passionate then this unruly statement furthermore dogs use much more than ears to establish social behavior it's a compilation of body language sounds breathing and scent....... Something Americans and Brits alike don't sense...... With that said I would advise you refrain from verbally attacking actual validity in this topic matter.....thank you Pete for using a bias opinion to have your argument collapse upon itself......

So it's not ok for a puppy to have his ears cropped but it's ok to circumcise your child??? I'm afraid that it makes no sense and that it's irrelevant due to the fact that neutering your dog is perfectly acceptable but has no actual value to the dog physically only to put the owners mind at ease....... This hypocritical argument holds no water and the ignorance is offensive to people who's companion is part of the family.....reflect on your moral values people!

I think ear cropping is ok if its under anestesia(which means no pain for the dog) and also on only a few breeds(not a german shepperd like that guy said). It also helps with ear problems and i say it should be done early because its better safe than sorry(it would hurt way more if he got some ear desease).I dont prefer tail docking though(it doesnt give anything to the dog and it looks kinda stupid).

Robert, Redmond OR, are you as agressive towards your dog as you are towards any criticism here? I pity your dog. No, they are not wolves, but different breeds have been developed with breeding, not multilation. So you crop German Shepherds in retard America? Sick animal abuser. I've had long-haired German Shepherds and never once had any problems with their ears or anything else. I didn't even know you creeps did this barbaric practice to this breed, which already have upstanding ears. Oh, didn't you know? The pups have floppy ears but they grow erect when adult and are a way of signalling since they can put them down - submission, apology, or up - confident, attentive, friendly. Of course you didn't know that, being a retard. But America is moving slowly to catch up with the civilised world and ban barbaric mutilation of dogs, which in the UK was banned 100 years ago. One day they'll lock scum like you up.

Dogs are not wolves. They have been tampered with since the dawn of man. Fortunately we have modern medicine and can now crop with the animals feeling minimal discomfort. Taking an uncroped hairy German Shepard to the lake during high summer for a swim is inhumane. A few weeks of discomfort when they are puppies saves years of pain and suffering for a dog thats floppy ears promote bacteria growth and ear mite habitat. For those of you out there with all these ignorant comments about how we should leave tham like nature intended... Well your about ten thousand years too late. Ps. I dare any of you hippies to find a wolf, coyote, fox, etc. with floppy ears.

I am all for ear cropping IF it is done under anastesthia by a veterinarian. I have a dog with big floppy ears that has had chronic ear infections, burst vessels, etc. because his ears are so floppy. I wish I would have gotten his ears cropped. It would have saved me lots of cash and saved him a lifetime of painful ear problems.

In my personal opinion, the idiot that wrote below me (about its ok to kill animals for a sport and their fur)is plain ignornat with his comment... oh ya "sound the alarm" really funny...dumbass. Animals have feelings like humans, and feel pain and pleasure. That is why, I believe ear cropping is cruel. Animals should be left the way they are born (unless it is a birth defect or a life-threatening situation). Animals are born a certain way for a reason and we should not interfere and alter/change what mothernature created (or mama and papa dog created). We should not put dogs through this type of pain, to make them look a certain way. It is cruel, inhumane, and pointless. It needs to be illegal.

I'm for ear cropping. If this becomes outlaw, then we should stop hunting as a sport all together. It's ok to kill animals for sport, and for their fur but someone crop a dog ears and it's a big problem. Sound the alarm!!!!!

I think that we do ear cropping for our amusement. And we shouldn't. Its not fair for the dogs. The only thing they get from it is a lot of pain. It should become illegal.

I think that ear cropping is useless, and should become illegal. The only time we should do it is if they absolutely need it. Not for our pleasure.

I think ear cropping is an unnessasary procedure and should not be done on dogs. They get nothing from it except for a whopping dose of pain.

Come on we are still cutting off pieces of the INFANT male anatomy for cosmetic reasons! Lets deal with that selfish/primitive thinking before we get our panties in a bunch over dogs.

Cosmetic surgery for humans is at an all time high, if we are willing to have procedures on our selves, which are painfull and only sereve to make us feel better about ourselves, why in the world would it be wrong to have procedures on our pets too. Shallow maybe, but wrong?
