I got a Maltese for my 89yr old Grandma as a companion. For now, since Gramms doesnt brush him much at all no matter what I say, we keep him in a puppy cut. She requested that I adopt him when she is no longer here. I think I will try the long coat and see how it goes. I DO like grooming animals;)

To Stop the brown around the maltese eyes you would need to give them bottled water beacause minerials in the tap water causes the brown stain.A wise teacher of mine told this to me.

I have found that Maltese love to play without the use of toys many times. Our little guy is so careful, that he can grab your hand or fingers without hurting you. He is an expert in making certain he plays but not too hard. This came from making the sound of an injured dog when he was growing up, when he played too 'hard'. I trust him around small kids, much more than I trust small kids to not hurt him. Always monitor small kids with your Maltese. These little friends are easily hurt.

I have a 6 year old neutered male. He was perfectly house trained until my daughter lived with me for three months and brought her male dog. My dog began to mark his territory all over the house!! My daughter left 5 months ago and I am still not able to leave him on his own in the house and I must keep him on a leach with me at all times to make sure he stays in my sight. I have soaked the areas with a recommended odor remover actually have gone through 6 bottles at $27 each and he still goes to the spots. I am at my wits end. I love him but he has tried my patience and I may have to give him away if I cannot find out a way to stop this behavior. I know they have
a
very acute "nose" could that be the problem? Do I need to go so far as to remove the carpet, only a year old I might add, or what. HELP

I need help selecting a harness for a Maltese that doesn't add to the knots or tangles. Her hair is long, not show dog long, and I brush her regularly, especially after a walk. I find that the harness causes the knots. is there something else I should be using? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
