Janet, there are a number of free veterinary services in the Houston area that might be able to help or refer you to someone who can help. Try calling SNAP, 713-522-2337 or the Houston Humane Society, 713-433-6421. DogChannel editor.

My Westie is bleeding from his mouth due to "rotten" mouth from bad teeth.

My 9 yr old cocker has had a skin problem like seborrea for five years. One vet said just bathe her alot. She was groomed once and got fatty sores all over her. Now she has small fatty tumors on her skin, plus a rancid smell from the oily deposits. A year ago she got put on thyroid. Nothing changed. Yet, by not grooming her too closely, the seborrea is maneageable. Six months ago, she started having seizures and went on phenobarbital. Last night, she poo'd all over the house which it had some red drops, then this morning after taking her two 16mg phnobarb, she started bleeding in her mouth. After she ate her food and I cleaned her up, she seems okay. No blood anywhere. I feel like the vet is crazy. I don't have any faith in them now. I am going to ease back the penobarb and be sure she has plenty of food with it. I guess it could have hurt her stomach, sort of like if we took a bunch of asprin all at once. I don't know what to do for her.

I would have like further instructions re: suture bleeding after surgery. It isn't profuse or I would rush her to the hospital. However, it is concerning me. I was told to use liquid bandage but she didn't tolerate that at all.

i have the exact problem with my boxer as Kathi. She is 5 years old and spayed. She is bleeding from the ears, nose, mouth and has red blood spots on her stomach and chest. The vet did blood work but is not sure what the problem is.
