Good reminder--also remember that when your dog does go out in extremely cold whether, some dogs need a coat or sweater to retain body heat.

Be kind to your pets...bring them inside. They desire to be in a comfortable home with their family. They are not wild wolves! Please be humane.

The only time my little dog will ever step a paw out is if she has to go for a walk or to the vet. Other than that she will be inside

If you're going to have a pet, why would you keep it outdoors all the time? That's not a very good quality of life.

It does still amaze me how many people dont realize that they need to protect their pets from the cold much like we do. I live in the cold northern climate and deal with cold weather all year round. I have been preparing for the real cold snap for a month now making sure my dogs have all the gear they need to keep them warm and safe for the long cold winter days ahead.

I think he article is good! Here's a few other things that might
help.
I have outside kitties and they need a lot more food and a constant source of clean fresh water to drink so they won't get dehydrated during the winter.I like to put out warm for them to drink.I think they like having a nice warm drink of water like we dink hot eggnog and hot cocoa. You also have to check on the water from time to time because it will freeze over.A box with a fleece blanket in a garage seems to be a favorite.Make sure there are several places for them to sleep to ensure they are warm and make sure that a visit from a neighboring or lost cat doesn't end in a fight. You may find your cat has a friend during the winter and you will want to make sure they are both fixed and that they get along in the spring and summer. They may seem like they get along pretty good now but the clod can make even the worst mean loner cat into a cuddle
bug.
Cedar bedding is a good choice or a pillow with cedar in it because it will help with fleas! You may also put it under their blankets if that's what you are
using.
Don't forget about the litter box!A cat might not want or be able to relive it's self out doors due to weather and cold.make sure you have one where the cat is at.Don't forget to check periodically to make sure it's
clean.
Hope this
helps
God Bless

So many people don't understand that animals need to be out of the cold as humans do. They also need to be kept warm.
