This is only a tax on responsible dog owners. It is designed to penalize people with purebred dogs, because of an agenda by a certain group of extremists. The same people who do not obey the licensing laws, the rabies laws, the vicious dog laws, and the other laws, will not obey this intrusive and divisive law. Its purpose is merely to create a revenue stream so they can hire more people to harass the responsible dog owners.

I'm all for this. If it was mandatory for all dogs, I'd say NO WAY. But, because you can purchase an intact dog permit AND it has certain rules that benefit the dog that stays intact, I think EVERY CITY should have a law like this!

I live in New Orleans and think this is intrusive. This ordinance is not in line with the New Orleanian character of laissez faire. I think the LaASPCA (of which I am a member) is sticking its nose where it doesn't belong. There are many responsible owners here that don't need to be fined or taxed or harrassed. Reminiscent of obama. This is just a grab for money.

I think this is a great ordinance. We need to do something to stop the overgrowing pet population.
