I think it's best to groom my dogs myself. Much less stress in a familiar surrounding. And, even if I mess up a bit, who really cares? I'd rather have my senior dog happy than perfectly primped.

I LOVE the seniors! I have a large(45 lb)19 yr old terrier mix.As she is losing sight/hearing,I do not take any chances with a groomer. She stands patiently in the tub & gets toweled/fluffed dry.Her coat is a little sparse with age so all I need to trim is a little around the ears, eyes & beard.Ready to go!

Great advice. Another tip I'd offer is groom your dog yourself! Even if you have no experience a bad grooming job will make the dog feel better and won't be as stressful. You can even take just 10 minutes a day until the job is done.
