Two dogs found buried at rapper DMX’s home had serious bite wounds, according to the Arizona authorities who are investigating the singer for alleged animal neglect.
A third dog carcass was so badly burned that authorities couldn’t determine a cause of death, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpio says.
The investigation stems from an Aug. 24 raid on the rapper’s home, where police seized 12 malnourished pit bulls, weapons and marijuana, Arpio says.
A lawyer for the rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, has said DMX was paying caretakers and veterinarians to care for his animals.
No charges have been filed in the case yet, according to Arpio.
“Someone’s going to have to pay for this,” the sheriff told the Associated Press. “We have 12 dogs who were abused and three dogs buried in the yard – someone’s going to have to pay.”
