How We Met?
We'd been looking for a dog for a really long time after our two other dogs died. We looked at several shelters, but there was none that called our attention and make us feel that they were "the one". One day, we were looking in the classifieds and saw an ad for large mutt puppies being sold in Lancaster, PA on an amish farm. When we drove up, we were hitting some traffic, so we called ahead and asked them to save us a female pup. Once we got there an amish couple and the pup's mother greeted us in their drive way. Then the wife went inside to get the pup they'd saved for us (she was the last one left, by the way). He said she had a problem... I thought, "Great, we came all this way and they saved us a sick defected puppy!" He said she had a small part on her tail where hair wouldn't grow and her had some oikment for us to put on it. Then, he said, "We'd sold the others for $50 a piece, but we'll give her to you for $40" So, of course we couldn't leave this cute little puppy here because we needed her as much as she needed us. We bought her, took her home, gave her a bath, and tried to name her. We came up with the name Shadow (not only because she's black) but because she follows you around like a shadow. And we all lived happily ever after.
P.S.- The hair on her tail never grew back, but you can barely tell it's now there because of the long hair on her tail. :)
