Dear friends of Flash, I'm sorry to say that Flash has passed away today. He was going deaf, loosing sight in his eyes and had arthritis. My mother is taking it very hard, he was everything to her. He will be missed by everyone. ~Jen

I was looking for a dog that got along well with kids and was very friendly. I went to the humane society and Flash was the only dog sitting politely in his kennel. When I asked him if he could come, he came over to me and sat down. Then I started to pet him and he leaned his side against the cage so he could get a good scratching. I called my husband and had him bring up the kids. My husband had never owned a dog, and a few of my kids were afraid of dogs. I always had a dog when I was a kid and had always missed not owning one. When the kids and my husband came up, we were shown into the "introduction" room, and the kids were immediately down on the floor with him, petting him, and he was loving that! I told the kids to let my husband have a chance to get to know Flash, and to sit back down. When they did that, Flash came and sat in front of my husband, about an arm's length away and just looked at him. My husband asked me what he wanted, so I said -- maybe your approval? So my husband reached his hand out and Flash did the butt slide until he was close enough to be petted. It was love from then on! My husband said we made a good choice because he is such a good natured dog! I told my kids we could change his name if we wanted to, but they voted to keep "Flash" because their Grandfather's name is Gordon and his nick name is "Flash" after Flash Gordon!
