How We Met?
Sunny was abandoned! Some people who lived down the street from my aunt moved and left poor little Lightning (her real name at the time) locked in her kennel in the back yard. My aunt's dog, Buster fell in love with Lightning, and broke her out of her prison, and took her home. My uncle knew where she lived (but not that her owners had left), so he took her back, and found no one home, so he put her back in her kennel. Buster broke her out again. She was taken home again. This happened several times, until new tennants moved into the house, and said Lightning's owners had moved. The only food she had gotten was what my aunt and uncle left out for their dogs (Buster showed her where it was). My aunt and uncle couldn't keep Lightning as they already had two dogs, so they called us. The poor puppy (she was about one at the time) was terrified of my father, as she was of all men with any facial hair, leading us to believe she had been abused. She came home with us that day with a new name, and proved to be the sweetest, best-behaved dog we have ever come accross (she wouldn't even go potty in the mowed part of the yard, but only in the long grass). She did everything she was told. Now, she is not scared of anyone, she misbehaves on occasion (because she knows she will never be beaten), and is very protective of her family, and is our biggest baby (literally!!). We are so lucky to have her!
