Hi Everyone- wow! I haven't been on here in FOREVER! But sadly, I probably won't ever be as active as I was before, back in the good ol' days. I miss you all soooo much and I have made SO many GREYT friends on this wonderful site. Mom just doesn't have time to blog for me, or my kitty bro Sam that much anymore. She's going to be starting school again in late August (sophomore in high school) and will probably never have time to even play games on the computer, much less blog for me. If only I could actually learn how to type! :-( Oh, I would also like to say how much my heart warmed at the birthday messages. You all are the sweetest. I miss every single one of you SO MUCH and I love every single one of you SO MUCH and I will never forget all the greyt friends and mommies and daddies on here! You guys ROCK! Much, much love, greyt big hugs, and kisses! LOVE FOREVER, Sparkle* ♥

How We Met?

The Gold Coast Greyhound Adoptions rescue greyhounds that are either too old to race, are injured, or haven't won much races. They bring adoptable greyhounds to Largo PetSmart every Saturday and have people interact with the dogs... and make them fall in love. When I fell in love with Sparkle, it was when we already had a greyhound, Luxor. We brought him to PetSmart every Saturday to see his foster mom and play with the owner of Gold Coast Greyhounds. They have all the adoptable dogs in a large pen, smack in the middle of the store, so you see them right when you walk in. As usual, I played with the greys, but one caught my eye. Love at first sight. Her name was Sparkle and it suited her just fine. Since I begged and begged my parents to let me get her, she became my dog and I became the owner.I can't believe this, but mommy left out the most important part of how we met. Mommy and her sister were having a lemonade stand, all profits going to the Gold Coast Greyhounds. They made about $26.00, not much, but it was worth it when Mommy walked in PetSmart to hand over the money. That's where the real fun began. (;Check out my YouTube Videos! Hi Sparkle

We are watching Star Wars VI Return of the Jedi on Spike tv AGAIN, for the umpteenth time. Mommy knows the script and could probably play any part except for Chewbacca cause he is tall and has lots of hair (Mommy falls short -tee hee -on BOTH counts). She has all 6 movies on dvd, bought the BluRay set when it came out, she made Daddy take her to see Episode I in 3D at the Movie Theater, she even has a lightsaber that is a replica of Anakin's from Episode III hanging on the wall in a holder Daddy made for her in his workshop!WHY does she feel the need to watch it EVERY time it's on tv? I really love Mommy but for Heaven's sake she is 55 years old and needs to get a life. What is it about these movies that captivate her? I mean have you looked, I mean REALLY looked at what these "people" look like? Right now we are watching the strangest bunch of yahoos in something called Jabba's Palace and they are downright scary looking! Mommy must not be wired right or something has short circuited because she can't seem to take her eyes off the black box where they all apparently live, or at least visit a lot! Why she wants to look at THEM when she could look at Daddy instead, is something I'll never understand! Daddy isn't scary looking at all unless he's mad, but that's another story. He doesn't have things growing out of his head and his skin isn't blue OR green unless he's sick! I WOULD RATHER LOOK AT DADDY! Maybe Mommy thinks if she watches those movies enough, she will be able to "use the force"to control me when I am not listening or minding. You know, bring me back from the "darkside" Bahhahahaha! She is a little obsessed but in a way, she's kinda cute. This little old lady like a Jedi in training, or a "Padewan" as they call them in the movies. I will have to keep you updated on the apprentice's progress. BOL! Gotta go! Han Solo just defrosted! PuppyDog Kisses and Tail Wags, Chewie Cairn Cuddles, Maya

Hi! Sparkle

Hi! Here is a vote, thank you so much for yours. Today was another rainy day, not spring yet. Hopefully soon. I just stayed inside today, while g-ma was sick with her stomach flu. Mom is trying to stay away as much as possible, but she is the only one around during the day to get g-ma anything she needs. G-ma says she is feeling better today, which is a good thing. Thanks for your prayers! Means a lot. I hope all is well, and hope you had/have a very nice day! "A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out." DAY TWENTY OF MY DOTM RUN (MOOSE MOOKO) Thank you all for your support I think I'm behind though but I'm still having fun. I will be posting a new DOTM photo daily, which you can only see for the day, also I am posting facts on pets and pet nutrition at the end of all my DOTM blogs. Hope you have a good day. Facts of the day: I. The Basset Hound is a short, relatively heavy dog. The head is large and well proportioned with a rounded skull. The muzzle is deep and heavy with the size being greater than the width at the brow. II. The Basset Hound is sweet, gentle, devoted, peaceful and naturally well-behaved. They fit into family life well. Their temperament should always be friendly, and never vicious, moody or harsh. III. Bassets like to do tricks for food. It has a deep musical bark. Housebreaking is difficult, but they do well with positive reinforcement and patient, gentle training. IV. The Basset hound will do okay in an apartment. They are very inactive indoors but outdoors they will run for hours in play if given the chance. V. They do not have to have a yard, but need to be given plenty of opportunities to run and play to keep them healthy and trim.

Hi Sparkle,

I know you're offline, but I'm trying to catch up on my blogs and I haven't dropped by your page in a while. I'm sorry to hear that your mom was sick, but is feeling better now. My mom was sick for a week back in January, now she and I are suffering from allergies due to the nice warm weather we have been having. We didn't much in the way of snow this winter and never really had freezing cold temps, so the allergies are really going to be a problem this year, I think. My allergies really kicked up while we were on vacation in South Carolina. I enjoyed my time there, though, with the exception of going to the ocean. I don't like the water/waves. As the waves came in, I tried to run out. Mom thought it was hilarious, but I didn't. Hope all is going well with you. Mom says it's time to get off the computer, so I guess. Have a great night. Leaving you a vote. Shepherd hugs, Contessa

Vote 3,412!

Quick c/p! Then some personal blogging. Just wanna clean up our pages quickly! Lately the weather has been GREAT. The past week, only ONE day was below 60. In fact, today it's going to get up to 70! One of Onyx and Domino's puppies, Sahara, is being fostered by my grandma. Pretty exciting. She's been getting daily walks with Gotti, so they're becoming GREAT friends. I'm hoping Gotti's owner will adopt her. :D Will post pictures to Gotti and Lobo's profile after the blogs are done. I adopted a Yorkie. Her name is Promise. My friend has her here on DC on her own account. Her owner's surrendered her cuz they didn't want her anymore. I walked in, saw her and she reacted to me. Came right up to me. People at the shelter said she had just came in that morning and didn't approach anyone. So I adopted her on the spot. My bunny, Jester McChester passed away. :( She caught a respiratory infection and, despite the antibiotics the vet gave her, it destroyed her respiratory infection. Along with her my turtle, Yo-Yo passed away, too! Don't know WHAT'S going on. But, just yesterday morning Promise ran away at about 9am. And we didn't find her until 4pm! Then again this morning when I went to get the mail, she ran off again. I kicked off my sandals and chased her all around the corner and caught her. Silly Promise. Gotta keep a close eye on her from now on!! Kevin is still a whistling little feller. Hehehe. That's about all! Momma likes Greyhounds. She saw one at the dog park the other day, he was a sweetheart. That was nice of the Greyhound rescue to give your Momma a free calendar. :) Is it all about Greyhounds? Bark soon! Love, Onyx♥ .

Hi Sparkle

Sorry it's been so long siice I last bloged, it's just been crazy around here. Things have finally started to calm down. Mama told me that she will set a specific time for us to blog our furiends. Our weather is so strange lately. We were having tons of rain, even hail. Then one day the sun decided to show itself. It even warmed us up pretty good. I love it. I spend most of the day out in the yard just sunbathing. I do go in from time to time, just to check on mama, see what she's up to, and make sure I haven't missed out on any food or treats. All of our trees are blossoming, Maggie thinks it's popcorn on the trees, bol. She still likes to follow me around, tries to do exactly what I do, I don't mind as much anymore. What I do mind though is that she tries to play with my bunny. I mean just because I have a favorite toy that I need at all times, doesn't mean that she needs that same toy too. Mama even bought a bunny just like mine, but she won't play with it. So what have you been up to? How has your weather been? Any big surprises happening in your area? Well, I better get going, appearantly the others need time to blog too, leaving a vote and pug hugs, Mitchie

DAY FOUR OF MY DOTM RUN (MOOSE MOOKO 162309) I had internet problims so I didn't send many blogs yester day so I'm sending yesterday's today. Thank you all for your support. I will be posting a new DOTM photo daily, which you can only see for the day, also I am posting facts on pets and pet nutrition at the end of all my DOTM blogs. Hope you have a good day. ~Facts of the day~ Cape Parrot I. The Cape Parrot or Levaillant's Parrot is a large, temperate forest dwelling Poicephalus parrot endemic to South Africa. It has 2 subspecies which may be considered distinct species, the savanna dwelling Brown-necked Parrot and Grey-headed Parrot. II. The Cape Parrot is a short-tailed moderately large bird with a very large beak used to crack all sorts of hard nuts and fruit kernels, especially those of African yellowwood trees Podocarpus spp.. This contrasts with closely the related savanna species (Poicephalus fuscicollis) which feeds on and a wide variety of tropical woodland trees such as Marula. III. Juveniles also show a larger orange - pink patch on the forehead but lack the red on shoulders and legs of adults. IV. The Cape Parrot is endemic to South Africa. It occurs in Afromontane forests at moderate altitudes in eastern South Africa from the coastal escarpment near sea-level to the midlands at around 1000m. These forests occur as a series of small patches around the south and east of South Africa and are dominated by Yellowwood trees V. Cape Parrots have a disjunct distribution with the largest population around in the Amathole mountains of the Eastern Cape Province and extending east, with several large gaps, through the Mthatha escarpment and Pondoland in the Eastern Cape and the southern midlands of KwaZulu-Natal Province to Karkloof, near Pietermaritzburg.
