Hi Chloe and family!
DAY 3 OF SNICKERS’ DOTM RUN!
THANKS FOR YOUR VOTE OF SUPPORT
With warm weather (hopefully!) coming soon I wanted to do a topic on heatstroke since it is a common occurrence- unfortunately.
Dogs are much more susceptible to heat than we are. To prevent heatstroke during warm weather-
*never leave your dog in a car
*always exercise him/her during the early morning or evening when temperatures are cooler
*always provide plenty of fresh water
*if your dog is outside during the day, make sure the doghouse or other shelter is comfortably cool during the hottest part of the day
Signs of heatstroke
*h- igh fever (104 degrees or higher)
*refusal to obey commands
*warm, dry skin
If you suspect heatstroke call the closest emergency vet to let them know you are on your way. Immediately lower your dog’s body temperature by getting him to a cool, ventilated location and applying towels or sponges soaked in cool water to his body or douse him with a hose and then wrap him in a cool, damp blanket. Offer him a small amount of water but don’t force him to drink because he may choke.
Hope you're enjoying your Sunday. Mommy had to work all day so she missed the beautiul weather- 60 degrees! I got to play outside with Alex and Emma and then I took a nap on their chalk drawings. Now I have chalk dust all over my fur! BOL
Hugs, Prayers, and a vote for you.
