One of the best deodorizers I know of is a solution made of equal parts water and white vinegar, because vinegar neutralizes the ammonia in urine. In the case of carpeting, I always test the solution on a hidden spot of the carpet to make sure the vinegar won't bleach out or leave a mark on the carpeting. If you choose to use a commercial product, you'll find a good selection at any well-stocked pet-supply store. If you're not sure which product to purchase, the store employees will gladly make appropriate suggestions. The cleaners based on natural ingredients often prove the most effective.

If you keep your home free of elimination odors and offer the dog a consistent relief area outdoors, and frequent opportunities to use it, it won't take long at all to have a house-trained companion. Again, patience, praise and proper management will be the keys to your success.
