Can Vaccines Cause Disease?

Veterinarians say reactions to vaccination collectively called vaccinosis, do occasionally occur.

The most commonly used homeopathic remedy is Thuya, which is appropriate if the dog has reacted poorly to a vaccination and suffers from nagging health problems. Sulphur, aconite, belladonna and Mercurius sulphuricus are also commonly used, but the most effective remedy depends upon your dogs' set of symptoms and the expert diagnosis of a homeopathic veterinarian.

Many vaccines are necessary. Distemper, parvovirus and other canine diseases are possibly fatal.

How do you balance a vaccine's risk with the possibility of infection?

Work with your veterinarian to develop a personalized vaccination schedule based on your dog and the likelihood it might be infected with a particular disease.

Some veterinarians recommend three-to-five-year breaks between boosters, depending on a vaccine's type and brand, rather than the annual booster.

If you consider vaccines vital to you: dog's health, holistic veterinarians suggest using killed vaccines rather than live ones and advise injection of single vaccines at separate points to diminish any possible negative effects. Be sure your dog is healthy before having it vaccinated. Those with genetic diseases, fever or hormonal changes are not good vaccination candidates either. Before and after vaccinations, keep your dog stress-free, warm, dry and healthy.
