Persistent yet playful, the German Shorthaired Pointer has a heart for both hunting and family.

Tippy points bunnies. It’s different than when she’s hunting quail or participating in field trials. “When she points birds, she’s rock solid, like a statue,” says her owner, German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America Secretary Sue Clemons, of Arizona. “But when she sees a bunny, suddenly her tail flags back and forth. When she was younger, she would carry them home, and we’d often find a bunny in her doghouse [unharmed].”
