When Leslie May took Gracie from the shelter to her home in Carmel, Ind., the Border Collie mix had seen better days. Her coat lacked shine, her skin itched, and her teeth desperately needed attention.
Now, thanks to May's all-natural lifestyle, Gracie, a 3-year-old dynamo, runs circles around her agility teammates and appears unrecognizable from the neglected animal she was under the care of a hoarder.
"Gracie's coat is beautiful, now," says May, who founded RaiseAGreenDog (http://blog.raiseagreendog.com) — a blog for organic-minded dog owners. "She has no health problems anymore. She has just really come along and has a ton of energy."
May stuck to the philosophies she'd had since childhood and adapted them for dog ownership. A few back-to-basics strategies made all the difference in the health of her home and her pets.
