Canine Calling

Practical self-analysis and an understanding of the market are the first steps toward career bliss.

As some wise sould observed, "if you truly enjoy your job, you'll never work a day in your life." So if dogs are your passion, what could be more gratifying than a job which allows you to work with them?

There are a multitude of occupations involving canines, but before jumping off into the deep end, here's some sage advice from Carol Christen, a career strategist from Atascadero, Calif. In the past, Atascadero was a mucky area where wagons frequently bogged down (the Spanish word translates to "stuck in the mud"), but Christen's job is to keep people from getting mired down in boring and unrewarding occupations.

The Right Questions
"When choosing a career," Christen says, "there are three fundamental steps to cover: What job do I want? Where are thos jobs to be found? How do I get employed doing a job I want?"
