Nothing melts my heart more quickly than the sight of a puppy. Those questioning eyes, tiny features and irresistible puppy breath stop me dead in my tracks every time. Thanks to years spent working in a veterinary clinic and my time as a dog-magazine editor, I’ve been lucky enough to meet thousands of puppies. You would think that I’d have grown used to them by now. Evidentially, you don’t build up an immunity to puppy cuteness.
Just the other day, a coworker brought her black Labrador Retriever puppy to the office for a photo shoot. Of course, I couldn’t resist taking a peek. “I’ll just take a quick break,” I told myself as I crept into the chaotic imaging studio.
Some women coo over babies. I coo over puppies (much to the annoyance of some of my friends). I try to maintain a sense of professionalism at work, but I couldn’t resist a little cooing at that adorable little Lab puppy. He was having a great time posing for photos and clamboring around the studio. He even took a few moments to cover my hands and face with sweet puppy kisses. Ah, puppy love.
