Meet Soupy the Super Mom and Her Kids
This Golden Retriever made obedience history when she produced the most OTCH-winning offspring in one litter.

Conscientious breeders hope to whelp a healthy, happy litter, and it's all the better if one or two puppies bring home show ribbons. Aside from these expectations, few people ever think their bitches and puppies will break an American Kennel Club record.
Enter an over-achieving Golden Retriever who made obedience history in and out of the whelping box. Bridget Carlsen's dam Soupy (OTCH High Times Belvedere's Duck Soup, UDX 16, OM3, MH, QAA, MX, MXJ, OD, ODHF), along with sire Canyon (Timberee At Monument Canyon, CDX, MH, WCX, OS), produced the ost OTCH-winning offspring in one litter.
Of the seven brainiac puppies -- five males and two females, botn on May 27, 2005 -- six have earned OTCH titles. This includes Buoy (NOC, OTCH High Times Ris'n Above the Tide, UDX13, OGM, RE, CGC), the 2009 first runner-up and 2010 winner of the AKC National Obedience Invitational, owned by Kathleen Rasinowich-Platt. The one puppy who has not achieved a OTCH title, Cody (UCD High Times Soup to Nutes, VCD1, CDX, GO, TD, NA, NAJ, CGC), owned by Toby Krause, is no slacker. He's picked up tracking, agility and obedience titles while working on his OTCH. "I don't want to jinx things, but we'd love to see an all-OTCH litter," Krause says.
How does a breeder wind up with super pups?
