Someone in store recommended it
The item was on sale
The item had a promotion I liked

AKC Needs Summer Interns

Program is open to college students interested in purebred dogs.

The American Kennel Club is seeking interns for its 2007 internship program. Students will be selected for paid eight-week internships running June 4 to July 27, 2007 at either the AKC’s New York headquarters or its Raleigh, N.C., operations facility.

The internship program was developed in 2002 to foster the professional development of college students with an interest in purebred dogs. It offers assignments that coincide with each student’s area of study, offering work that helps build each participant’s resume and achieve their career goals, according to the AKC.

“The intern program helps us access the best and brightest individuals and groom them for future careers. In return they gain real-world work experience and the chance to further their interest in purebred dogs,” said AKC spokeswoman Vicki Rees.

Applicants must be or have:

  • A high school graduate.
  • Accepted or enrolled in an accredited four- or two-year college.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • A competitive grade point average.
  • Involvement or profound interest in purebred dogs.

The application package requires the following:

  • AKC application for Summer Internship Program.
  • A cover letter including interest in the sport of purebred dogs and thoughts on future employment with the AKC.
  • A resume.
  • A copy of the applicant’s academic transcript.

Application deadline is Feb. 15, 2007. Mail the completed application package to:
