More than 70 stories were submitted for the contest, and were narrowed down to 10 finalists.

Until October 31, 2008, pet lovers can vote for their favorite rescued animal at the Rally to Rescue website ( The winner will be announced in November at the National Dog Show presented by Purina. This sounds like a great program, it encourages those who want a pet, to lean toward adoption rather than going out and getting a new puppy from who knows where. I have my own "wonder dog" whom I adopted from a shelter. As the stories show, these shelter dogs have just as much endless potential as any pup trained from day one.
