Rescue Dogs Beat the Odds

Visitors can vote for their favorite "Rally to Rescue" transformation story until Oct. 31.

The public is invited to vote on the finalists in the Rally to Rescue “Doing More for Pets” Rescue Stories contest.

The stories shared by small rescue groups across the country tell of cats and dogs who beat the odds and became loving pets. Now Purina Pro Plan invites the public to vote for the pet they believe has made the most significant transformation in the Rally to Rescue “Doing More for Pets” Rescue Stories contest.

More than 70 stories were submitted for the contest, and were narrowed down to 10 finalists.

Until October 31, 2008, pet lovers can vote for their favorite rescued animal at the Rally to Rescue website (www.rallytorescue.org). The winner will be announced in November at the National Dog Show presented by Purina. The pet rescue group that nominated the winning pet will receive $5,000 in coupons for Purina Pro Plan pet food.

This sounds like a great program, it encourages those who want a pet, to lean toward adoption rather than going out and getting a new puppy from who knows where. I have my own "wonder dog" whom I adopted from a shelter. As the stories show, these shelter dogs have just as much endless potential as any pup trained from day one.
