Calling all camera-loving cats and dogs. Evanger’s Dog and Cat Food Company is now accepting animal portraits for the 2009 edition of its annual nationwide pet calendar.

The calendar will be offered free at select pet stores nationwide with a product purchase, and will be available for $4.95 through the company’s website when it is released in October. The deadline to submit photographs has been extended until August 31.

Any pet owner is eligible to participate, and there are no entry fees. Pet owners can send an image as an e-mail attachment to contest@evangersdogfood.com before Aug. 31.

When submitting dog photographs, remember to use adequate lighting and take close-up shots.
