Iraq Puppy Adopted by Soldier En Route to U.S.
Ratchet the Iraqi puppy finally had his day. An animal rescue group flew into Baghdad on Sunday and picked up the dog, who was adopted by Army Spc. Gwen Beberg of Minneapolis in a case that highlighted military rules barring troops from caring for pets while in Iraq. Ratchet was loaded onto a charter flight, which took off Sunday night for Kuwait. He’s due in Minnesota later this week, The Associated Press reports.

Trooper Who Kicked Police Dog Will Get Job Back
A former North Carolina State Highway Patrol sergeant fired for kicking his police dog during training should get his job back, the State Personnel Commission said. The commission found that the patrol had failed to prove that Sgt. Charles L. Jones’ actions constituted personal misconduct, or that he had abused the dog Ricoh, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
