An Orland Park, Ill., dad who lost his 2-year-old daughter this summer was more concerned with the welfare of his dog, a judge heard Monday. A passing stranger called police after he found Tierzah Losos wandering alone on the sidewalk at lunchtime May 29, accompanied only by her family’s pet black dog. But when Tierzah’s frantic father, Mark Losos, approached officers at the scene 20 minutes later, the first thing he asked was “Have you seen my dog?” Orland Park Police Sgt. Joseph Mitchell said during a trial Monday morning, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Puppy-Beating Case Returned to Investigators
The Riverside County district attorney’s office wants the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department to further investigate a case where a Los Angeles County assistant fire chief beat his neighbor’s puppy so severely that the dog had to be euthanized. Prosecutors returned the case to sheriff’s detectives Monday, the Riverside (Calif.) Press-Enterprise reports.
