Owen Wilson has really gone to the dogs. The “Marley & Me” actor has agreed to voice the famous Great Dane Marmaduke in a new movie based on the much-loved comic strip.
The live-action, computer-animated movie follows the adventures of a family who moves from Kansas to Orange County, Calif., with their slobbery and chaos-attracting dog. Along the way Marmaduke falls in love with the dog of his dreams and overcomes a fall from grace.
Judy Greer, Lee Pace and William H. Macy play the humans, while Fergie, Emma Stone, George Lopez, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Steve Coogan, Damon Wayans and Marlon Wayans supply the voices.
This will be Wilson’s second go at a famous dog tale. His first dogcentric hit, “Marley & Me,” based on John Grogan’s bestselling memoir about his rambunctious Labrador Retriever and costarring Jennifer Aniston, was a surprise blockbuster at the box office.
“Marmaduke” is set for release next summer.
