N.Y. Woman Accused of Killing Dogs
A woman in Selden, N.Y., is facing animal cruelty charges for allegedly killing more than 20 dogs and burying them in her backyard, her son said. Sharon McDonough's son, Doug, alleges his mother routinely went on a "power trip" by purchasing a dog and eventually deciding to kill the animal, United Press International reports.

Police Dog Bites Wrong Man, Intruder Flees
A Eugene, Ore., man fighting a home intruder to defend his mother and young children was bitten by a police dog after officers mistook him for the prowler they had been chasing through the neighborhood. The intruder, meanwhile, escaped and Tim Crossan said he is upset that police have not offered him an apology for the bites that landed him in the hospital overnight earlier this week, The Associated Press reports.
