A German Shepherd pulled from a swollen Los Angeles river Friday in a bold helicopter rescue is waiting for an owner to claim him. The dog, nicknamed Vernon, is in good health and will be quarantined for 10 days unless an owner comes forward before then, FOX News reports.

Dog breeders in Iowa would see increased fees and tougher regulations under a measure unveiled Monday by supporters who called for cracking down on so-called “puppy mills” that often abuse animals.
