Katherine Heigl wants the public to help put animal abusers behind bars – and she’s putting her money where her mouth is.

The actress says she and her mother's Jason Debus Heigl Foundation will offer rewards to people who come forward with information about animal abuse. Heigl spoke about the plan during a press conference last week to discuss England, a pit bull who was discovered last month with his legs tied together in a muddy field in Bakersfield, Calif.
The dog’s former owner, James Worley, has been arrested and faces a possible charge of felony animal cruelty.
The Heigl Foundation helped find a new home for England, who was named after Kristin England, the animal-control officer who found him.
Heigl hopes the rewards will help encourage more people to come forward. “The thing is that you don’t want to give up on these animals,” she says. “Just because they’ve been through what they’ve been through doesn’t mean that they can’t have an enjoyable, happy, loving life.”
