Canidae Natural Pet Food Co. of San Luis Obispo, Calif., is supporting a fundraising project to benefit breast cancer research. Specifically, the pet food manufacturer has donated money to help print Pink Ribbon Puppies 2011 calendars, sales of which will benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
The Pink Ribbon Puppies project started with two friends’ plan to breed a litter of yellow Labrador Retrievers. One of the friends was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly before the puppies’ birth. As a result, the other friend created the Pink Ribbon Puppies 2011 calendar. Both women wish to remain anonymous.
“This project is in honor of my friend, all the women who have fought before her and for those who will take the same path in years to come,” says the project’s creator.
The calendar, which is available at www.pinkribbonpuppies.com, features the litter of nine Lab puppies. The 12-inch-by-9-inch wall calendar is $20. A 6-inch-by-4-inch mini calendar is $10, or three for $20. Professional photographer Elizabeth Arellano, who is a friend of the two women, donated her skills to create the pictures used in the calendar.
All proceeds from the sale of the calendar will go to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, a not-for-profit organization based in New York City that aims to prevent and cure breast cancer by providing funding for research and raising public awareness about good breast health.
