Morris Animal Foundation is inviting Florida dog enthusiasts to attend Tradewinds Park’s 1st Annual K9 Cancer Walk in Coconut Creek, Fla., at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 5. The event will also feature pet-related vendors and special talks on cancer prevention, wellness and cancer research and treatment, among other topics.
Walk-day registration is $35 and begins at 9:30 a.m.
All registered walkers will receive a 2010 K9 Cancer Walk T-shirt and a bandanna for their dog. Those who cannot participate in the walk can take part in Morris Animal Foundation’s Sit & Stay program, which gives dog enthusiasts a chance to virtually participate in the walk.
The goal is to raise $15,000 for canine cancer research.
About 50 percent of all dogs will battle cancer, which is the number one cause of death in dogs over the age of 2 years, according to the nonprofit organization. For details, visit www.k9cancerwalk.org
