Together, they hope to raise awareness and $1 million for guide dog organizations across the United States.
“We want people to realize that this is more than just a fundraiser for a good cause,” Miller said. “This is really about empowering the visually impaired with the life-changing gift of a guide dog.”
According to Petco there are over 1.3 million blind people in the USA. Guide dogs are an amazing asset to the visually impaired and create life-changing opportunities. By providing safety, companionship and assistance they bring a level of independence that could otherwise not be reached.
Throughout September, pet owners will be able to buy specially marked bags of
Natural Balance dog food and treats at
Petco and other pet retailers. One dollar from each sale will be donated to participating guide dog schools.
In addition, Petco shoppers can also “round up” their purchases at the register or make donations directly
online.
This year, participating guide dog schools are as follows:
•
Guide Dogs for the Blind
•
Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind
•
Guide Dogs of Texas Inc.
•
Guide Dogs of the Desert
•
Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation Inc.
•

•
