Adopt-A-Less-Adoptable-Pet Week
Many factors can make a pet seem "less adoptable," but that’s no reason to love them less!

Big black dogs, senior pets and special-needs animals often go over looked in shelters. They are often considered less desirable by adopters and are passed over for younger animals.
While taking on a senior dog or special-needs pet is not without its challenges, these lovable animals need homes too. They can make wonderful, loyal and active pets and should not strictly be judged on first appearances.
To promote these unusual and in some cases, too common animals, Petfinder has designated Sept. 17-25, 2011, as "Adopt-A-Less-Adoptable-Pet Week."
Petfinder shelters and rescue groups have nominated very special pets in their care who are waiting for a home. View the gallery of these wonderful animals and search for a special pet for adoption near you.
