Sarah Palin welcomed a new member (of the canine variety) to her family last weekend. The black Lab, named Jill Hadassah, was trained by Canine Craze in Des Moines as well as by Becky Beach at the Puppy Jake Foundation. The dogs at Puppy Jake Foundation are trained to become service dogs to those with special needs as well as service men and women suffering from PTSD. Jill will fill the role as companion and service dog to Palin’s 6-year-old son, Trig, who has Down Syndrome. Palin said on her Facebook page, "She’s brilliant and beautiful, and we feel very blessed to have her.”

I love how Trig and Jill Hadassah interact in the pictures of him standing on her back to reach the counter. She's helping him learn to problem solve, and is very patient and loving with him, as he is with her. He is in no way harming her. If she were in pain, she'd get up or move. This well-trained service dog is a great companion for him and the whole family. I have great respect for the whole Palin family and how they face adversity with integrity and grace.
