Recall Alert: Kong Aussie Sticks Recalled for Possible Mold

Rawhide stick quietly recalled due to potential mold.

In a day of dog product recalls, JAKKS Pacific of Walnut, California has issued a recall of Kong Aussie Sticks dog treats due to possible contamination with mold.


Bravo Recalls Dog Food for Possible Salmonella>> 

The recall is small, affecting only two lots sold at Petsmart. The products include: 

Kong Aussie Sticks Small Package
  • Item 75559
  • Item 75560
With "Best Before” dates:
  • 1/30/16
  • 1/31/16

In an quiet recall, JAKKS Pacific company spokesperson released the following statement:

"The products were not dried properly so a small percentage of finished goods have gone moldy.

"Majority of the product is fine, and the mold was caught at our DC, but some product may have made it to PetSmart so we are recalling all the product at PetSmart and destroying all the product we have at our DC.”

The company did not post a public notice of the recall and many have called into question their lack of communication over the issue.
