A little bit of my childhood has died along with actor Gerard Parkes who passed away at age 90 on October 19. The actor who was featured in many film and TV roles, will always be remembered by me for his role playing "Doc" on the Jim Henson series "Fraggle Rock."
But what does this have to do with dogs? Well Doc wouldn't have been Doc with out his loyal best friend Sprocket by his side. The wacky inventor never could see the Fraggle creatures, that Sprocket was sure existed. Sprocket often performed household chores for Doc including repairing water pipes. Sprocket's communication with Doc consisted of lively barks, facial expressions and good old pantomime.
Here's a clip in honor of the actor:
Parkes also played a character named Doc in the movie "Boondock Saints," but as that movie is a little less family and dog-friendly, we'll let you google the clip yourself.
