Kennedy Dog Book Makes a Splash
Senator Edward Kerry's new book features a dog who leads young readers on an insiders tour of Washington.
Theres an old saying, If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy did just that, and now he's hoping to duplicate former First Lady Barbara Bushs Millies Book success by penning his own dog book aimed at children.
The book, My Senator and Me, is narrated by Kennedys Portuguese Water Dog, Splash (Ch. Amigos Seventh Wave). Splash bird-dogs the Massachusetts Senator as he pushes a fictional education bill through the U.S. Congress. Splash also leads readers on a tour of several Washington, D.C. landmarks, and unleashes a cascade of barks to silence bickering Senators and Representatives.
I am very excited about the opportunity to create a book for young readers and their families that will deepen their understanding of how our American government works, Kennedy says.
The books proceeds will go to charity.
