Artist Creates Work for Dog Charity Fundraiser

The art will be featured on several premiums that raise money to support spay-neuter programs, cat and dog adoption efforts.

Ontario-based artist Julie Deans created her “Pickles and Coffee” artwork specifically for Petsmart Charities of Canada’s Spring 2008 “Just A Buck, Change Their Luck” fundraiser. Deans also creates custom cat and dog portraits and animal art (www.juliesillustration.com), and volunteers for rescue organizations and shelters.

The art will be featured on several premiums given to Petsmart's Canadian customers who donate at least $5 (a mouse pad for a $5 donation, a T-shirt for $10, or a tote bag for donations of $15 or more).

The program raises money for local animal welfare agencies, and money raised in each province will stay within that province.

Last year’s campaign raised more than $250,000 to support spay/neuter, adoption, education, home retention and emergency relief programs, the charitable arm of Petsmart reported. The Canadian charity has raised more than $1.4 million since 1999.

The campaign runs April 12 through 27.
