Celebrities, Athletes Pose to Benefit Homeless Dogs

Well-known entertainers pose with dogs and cats for a 2008 calendar to benefit a nonprofit animal rescue.

Showing support for a nonprofit animal rescue, 12 celebrities and professional athletes have posed with dogs and cats and their images were compiled into a 2008 calendar. Proceeds will benefit dogs and cats who need permanent homes.

The Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) 2008 calendar features actresses Alyssa Milano and Nicolette Sheridan, musicians Wynonna Judd and Carlos Santana, as well as Miami Heat basketball player Dwayne Wade and San Francisco Giants pitcher Barry Zito among several other famous faces.

Calendars are available online for a $15 donation at www.arf.net, and will be available at Target stores nationwide at the end of October. Proceeds benefit the dogs and cats who have been rescued – either abandoned, homeless, or those who have run out of time at shelters. ARF provides care and spay or neuter surgery until they are placed into a new home of their own.

Tony La Russa is the manager of the St. Louis Cardinals and co-founded ARF with his wife, Elaine, in 1990.
