Wealthy Americans are spending an average of $12,831 a year on luxury pet products, according to the Second Annual American Express Platinum Luxury Survey.
The survey examined the spending habits of 770 affluent Americans.
A sampling of luxury pet products available for purchase includes a $3,950 Posh Pooch Python carrier, a $1500 Goyard dog carrier, $495 Yves Saint Laurent dog leash, $430 Gucci dog mattress and $225 Louis Vuitton monogrammed dog leash.
