Gingrich Says Pets are Priority in Government Disaster Reform

Former House speaker interviewed in CatChannel.com exclusive.

Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House, emphasizes that people should not be forced to abandon their pets during emergencies like Hurricane Katrina, and calls for government reform in an exclusive article on CatChannel.com.

Well-known as a pet lover and a possible candidate for President in 2008, Gingrich says that lawmakers should act quickly to update U.S. evacuation policies. He specifically mentions one bill introduced in Congress recently, saying that public support is needed to make policy changes.

Gingrich was house speaker from 1994 to 1998, and founded the Center for Health Transformation in an effort to reform healthcare in the United States. His latest book, Winning the Future, was published last year.
