Dog Prays at Japanese Zen Temple
At a Zen Buddhist temple in southern Japan, even the dog prays. Mimicking his master, priest Joei Yoshikuni, a 1 1/2-year-old black-and-white Chihuahua named Conan joins in the daily prayers at temple, sitting up on his hind legs and putting his front paws together before the altar, the Associated Press reports.

Marine, Iraq Dog Reunited in San Diego
A San Diego-based Marine major was reunited on Saturday with one of his closest war buddies — a 2-year-old dog named Nubs. The dog greeted Maj. Brian Dennis at Miramar Marine Corps Air Station when the fighter pilot returned from Iraq. It was the first time the two were together since Dennis' family and close friends helped raise $3,500 to fly the dog to San Diego about a month ago, the Associated Press reports.

Dognapper Sets Off ‘Amber Alert’
A dognapper is on the lam after stuffing a 2-month-old Pomeranian puppy under his sweat shirt and hightailing it out of a Chicago-area pet store. But the store’s owner says there's a good chance the dog could be quickly recovered: The dog has an identifying microchip embedded under his skin, and his theft Friday morning triggered an online "amber alert'' by a pet locating service, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
