Pet Hero Tag Campaign Extended

The sale of dog tags for the Pet Hero Tag campaign to raise money for U.S. soldiers will be extended through the end of the year.

Private veterinary practice Banfield Pet Hospital and PGA Tour champion golfer Rory Sabbatini are extending the sales of special pet tags to raise money for U.S. soldiers and their families affected by the current military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Pet Hero Tag campaign, which initially kicked off Feb. 1, 2007, will now continue through the end of the year. Pet Hero Tag sales benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, which supports American soldiers and their families.

The limited-edition “Hero Tags” for dogs and cats are round tags that hang from a pet’s collar. They’ll continue to be available for sale at all of Banfield’s more than 615 full-service veterinary hospitals around the country.

Sabbatini, who was the 12th ranked player on the 2006 Pro Golfer Association Tour, has been a big supporter of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund since 2005. In less than two years, his efforts, along with the efforts of the PGA have raised over $500,000.

“My family and I are quite proud to be part of such a noble effort. We appreciate Banfield’s support and look forward to carrying on our partnership for further success of the Hero Tag campaign,” Sabbatini said.

Hero Tags are available at Banfield Pet Hospital for $2 each, with 100 percent of the revenue dedicated to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. In addition, Banfield is continuing to offer a five percent discount off all goods and services for military families with pets.

I love the idea that my dog wearing another tag can help a soldier or their family. It seems like such a small thing for me to do.
