Tales of Rescued Dogs Wanted

Rescued dogs as center of upcoming book called "Hopeful Tails.”

Posted: March 26, 2007, 5 a.m. EST

The deadline is nearing to send in stories for an upcoming book about rescued and formerly homeless dogs.

The ASPCA, Howell Book House and Borders, Inc. are putting out the call for compelling stories and photos of rescued dogs and cats for the book, called “Hopeful Tails.”

Anyone who shares their home with a formerly homeless, displaced or abused dog or cat is invited to share their story for possible publication in the book, which is about how important pets are to people.

Winning entries will be published in “Hopeful Tails,” a compilation of animal rescue and adoption stories from around the United States.

“Nowhere is the human-animal bond as clearly demonstrated as in the stories of shelter pets finding homes. I can’t wait to read all the great stories I know we’re going to get,” ASPCA President & CEO Ed Sayres said.

Entries are being accepted through March 31, 2007, at www.BordersPetProject.com. “Hopeful Tails” will be available this fall at all Borders and Waldenbooks stores. A dollar from every book sold through June 20, 2008, will be donated by Borders, Inc. to the ASPCA.
