The Oscar-winning actress would like a canine pal – and maybe a new home in the U.S.

Julie Christie can take or leave Oscar. What the actress really wants? A dog.
Christie, who is nominated for an Academy Award for her portrayal of an Alzheimer’s sufferer in “Away From Her,” will likely get both. She won a Screen Actors Guild award on Sunday night for the performance, and is considered a frontrunner in the Oscar race.
But when pressed during a recent interview to reveal her future career plans, all Christie could talk about were the more immediate goals of getting a dog, and settling down.
“I want a dog,” Christie told the Telegraph. “I want to be static enough in one place to have a dog.”
Christie, who won an Oscar for her role in the 1965 film “Darling,” says she would like to settle in the U.S., where she lived for a time during the 1970s.
“I am living in Wales,” Christie says. “It’s too much rain, isn’t it? It’s less pleasant to look at glorious scenery through rain-streamed windows. America is such a beautiful country and, if you respond to nature, it’s a pretty good place to be.”
“Away From Her” is now available on DVD.
