Owen Wilson will begin filming “Marley & Me” on March 10 – the actor’s first movie role since his reported suicide attempt last August.
Wilson will star with Jennifer Aniston in the big-screen adaptation of John Grogan’s popular book, which tells the story of Grogan and his wife’s late Labrador Retriever Marley, whom the couple adopted early in their marriage as a “trial run” for children.
As readers of the well-loved book already know, the mischievous Marley soon turns the couple’s life upside down, and teaches them powerful lessons about unconditional love and living life to the fullest.
Wilson, who appeared at the Academy Awards on Sunday to present the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film, was hospitalized last August. He dropped out of the upcoming comedy “Tropic Thunder,” and was replaced by Matthew McConaughey.
“Marley & Me,” directed by David Frankel of “The Devil Wears Prada,” is due out Christmas Day, 2008, according to 20th Century Fox.
