Miley Cyrus, star of Disney Channel’s popular “Hannah Montana,” says she almost didn’t score her dream job – a small part in “High School Musical 2” – during a break in filming “Hannah” because of her “crazy” dog Loco.
“I flew out [to the Utah set] in a plane that was so small I was scared to death,” says Cyrus in an interview with the Associated Press. “I had my dog with me, and they tried to kick my dog off the plane. I called my best friend in tears.”
Cyrus says the crew finally agreed to let the dog on board, and the actress flew on to the set without incident. Cyrus appears in an elaborate dance sequence in the film.
The actress is the daughter of country music star Billy Ray Cyrus, who also doubles as Miley’s songwriter dad on “Hannah Montana.” Cyrus and her family own three dogs, including Loco (“Because he’s crazy!”), Juicy and Minnie Pearl.
The Aug. 17 premiere of “High School Musical 2” on Disney Channel drew 17.2 million viewers, setting a record for the most-watched basic cable program ever. The first “High School Musical” drew 7.7 million viewers in 2006 and produced a soundtrack that was the year’s best-selling album.
