i notice that a lot of people who carry their dogs around have dogs who express common behavior issues, AND those issues are encouraged, simply by keeping up this type of behavior

Yeah! My dog Gracie is an attention-hound! She barks at everything, anything. And if she sits on the sofa with us she expects to be the centre of attention. It's cute, the cuddling part, but definitely NOT cute the barking.

the griffon (nashville) needs more socialization around men. he may have been abused or may simply prefer women, but to prevent barking, he needs to get used to
the german shepherd (middleton) probably needs more socialization with other dogs. he'll be crazy at first, but if you take him to a dog park or dog training (group class) and expose him to other dogs regularly, then he'll get used to them. in the meantime, work on having him sit or lie down when another dog comes, to make him easier to control.

Upon seeing another dog, my german shepard will jump up on it's hind legs and start barking uncontrolably. Restraining her with the leash is almost futile. How can this be corrected?

Except for my best friend, my griffon only barks at men who come in. Any suggestions besides the sit command. He gets so excited the sit command doesn't work.

Interesting. I never thought of having the dog do something before he gets attention. I always ignored attention-getting barking.

why not ignore the dog for a while, i mean once it realises it isn`t getting anywhere by barking it`ll stop. and about the golden retriever, why don`t you put food in the car, then drive tothe dog park a couple of times, then he/she may think that every time you want he/she to get in the car smthing good will happen. hope this helps.^_^

I have a Yorkie terrier and he barks at me and he is about five months, I tried the commands ( sit , come) and giving him a treat but it doesn't work all the time, I can call him to come and he want he will keep running, and I'm scared because he run out of the house about four days ago and he kept running and did not stop I was lucky that that two men where out side or him would have got hit by a car..... Help need different suggests on training.
