This is insane. It's racism. There's no such thing as a bad dog, only a bad person.

It makes me extremly angry to hear that people in the Marines cannot get certain breeds of dogs and may have to give up the ones they already have. There is no such thing as a violent, aggressive ,or dangerous breed. All breeds and any dog could become aggressive under certain situations and all dogs have the potential to bite. This is yet another hurdle for lovers of these type of breeds to have to jump through. It is supremely unjust and hateful and will reinforce the idea that breeds like these are ''dangerous''. By the way ,I grew up with a Pit Bull, Doberman Pinscher, Rottweiler, Chow Chow and a German Shepherd all at the same time. I love these breeds!!

I don't agree with banning breeds of dogs, and shame on the military for adding additional stress to our soldiers and their families. I will say that, unlike the Army, at least the Marines are giving the dogs a small chance by not banning them outright, but requiring them to pass temperament testing. Bravo for the local trainers who are stepping up to help the soldiers get their dogs ready!

I own 6 pitbulls and 1 pit/lab mix and they are the best dogs I have ever had. I think it is absolutely ridiculous how people want to ban this breed of dog. What if we did that with people? What if we took each race of people and found which group has the highest percentage in crime, murder, etc. then got rid of all the people in that group...I wonder how people would feel about that. It is just ridiculous!!!

This is so infuriating! Did the US government forget that pit-bull terriers were heroes in WWI, they are police dogs, search and rescue dogs, therapy dogs.... They are intelligent, loyal, extremely friendly with people and eager to please! Check the temperament tests, Pit bulls do better than Golden Retrievers. The army and marines should open a book and read some facts maybe they'll learn something!

We can never be 100% certain that our dogs will never hurt anyone but to single out a particular breed is down right wrong. Watch any dog show on tv and most of the vicious biting dogs are the smaller breeds. Should make you think twice!!!!

I own three pits.they are lovable, gentle dogs.It makes me so argry to see people be so stupid.Any breed can be violent, even the smallest of breeds. It is not the dogs it's the owners that are bad. This is just another blow to the image people already have.It makes me sick.My dogs would not hurt any one or any thing!

It really infuriates me that pitts and rotties are singled out for this type of issue. I have come across small dogs that are much more viscious and not people friendly at all. I realize that a little dog cannot do as much damage but it still frustrates me. Especially since I've owned both breeds and they were the best dogs ever.

i haveraised pitts, rescued, and worked at vets, and it doesnt matter the breed of dog... its how they are treated and trained... Yes dogs should be temperment teasted .. but i have friends in the military who have big ol baby pits.. very sweet dogs.. dont condim the breed but the people... !!!!

While i think every dog should be trained to be able to pass the CGC test (which IMO is more a behaviour test than a temperaement test), it is appalling that government organizations are banning breeds. Have they forgotten what a similar breed (The Doberman Pinscher) did for the Marines and our country not long ago? The Marine Devil Dogs (primarily Doberman Pinschers) saved many lives working alongside the Marines.

The deed, not the breed.

JMHO.

That is horible! Pit Bulls and rotties are not the problem! They are just very strong animals so people atamaticlly think they are dangurous! When really its just what some people train them for!

I think this is disgusting. When are people going to wake up and realize it's not the breed that is the problem, but the owners?
